Our first bullterrier was called Ernie, the breeders named him this because his mother had bitten him and caused a hernia, so we kept the name. He was not our original choice. There were two puppies left and we had originally chosen one with a black patch on his eye. Ernie was pure white and when we went to pick the pup up with the patch, Ernie walked upto us and we just had to have him. Nobody wanted him because of this hernia, he turned out to be one of the best dogs, very loving and loyal as most Bullterriers are. He was sired by champion Ghabar Flagship. Dam was Joan la Pucelle. We never showed Ernie as he was very shy and would not have been comfortable out there. His litter brother ROLLING THUNDER became UK champion. Ernie used to sleep in my son's bed with him and over the years the bed had a huge dip in the mattress in the shape of Ernie. Sadly we lost Ernie two years ago.
